LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit and picked up its seventh straight win with a 2-1 victory on the road at West Alabama.
The Lions, now 7-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the Gulf South Conference, allowed a goal just 4:29 into the match by West Alabama's TeMia Pride. UNA answered with a tying goal from
Shelby Wall later in the first half to make it 1-1 at the 30:05 mark. It was Wall's fifth goal of the season.
North Alabama then got the game-winning goal from
Kylie Huey un assisted in the 50th minute. Huey's sixth goal of the season and 23rd of her career at 49:46 would hold up as UNA's
Shelby Thornton recorded five saves in goal.
West Alabama is now 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the GSC.
The Lions return home to host Shorter on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
