LIPSCOMB TENNIS SWEEPS UNA WOMEN

NASHVILLE – After winning the doubles point with a pair of close victories, Lipscomb was able to win six singles matches to secure a 7-0 win over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team Sunday at the Whitworth Indoor Center in Nashville. With the loss, UNA falls to 1-2 on the year.

Following a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, the Bison found themselves in a battle on the two remaining courts.  Lipscomb was able to secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Bison quickly gained control of singles to record the sweep.

"Lipscomb is very good and we weren't as sharp as we will need to be," said UNA head tennis coach Brice Bishop.  "But I thought our effort was good. These are the kind of matches we need to prepare us for the tough Gulf South Conference."

UNA will be back in action Saturday at when both the men's and women's teams will host nationally-ranked West Florida in the GSC opener for both schools. Match time is set for 11 a.m. at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
