TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama scored six runs in the third inning and went on to a 8-0 win over North Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in the first meeting between the two schools since 2008.
Alabama, now 6-2, got 11 total hits off six UNA pitchers while the Lions were limited to a season-low two hits.
With the loss, North Alabama falls to 2-5 on the season.
After leaving three runners on base in the first inning and two more in the second, Alabama broke on to the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as Keith Holcombe doubled and Tyler Gentry followed with a two-run home run to left.
Justin King, T.J. Reeves and Gene Wood followed with three straight singles and Wood drove in King to make it 3-0 and chase UNA starter

Hunter Davidson then balked in Reeves to push the Alabama advantage to 4-0. A Kolby Robinson single made it 5-0 on the sixth hit of the inning. A Brett Auerbach sacrifice fly plated Kobe Morris, who had walked, to make it 6-0.
North Alabama got its first hit of the night when
Tate Mathis singled in the fourth. He stole second but was stranded on second.
UNA held Alabama scoreless in the fourth inning and should have in the fifth but a two-out error kept the inning alive and Holcombe was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run and make it 7-0.
A Wood RBI-single in the sixth off
Austin Nichols gave the Tide an 8-0 advantage.
Mancour (0-1) took the loss for UNA, allowing five runs in two innings of work.
The Lions were shutout for the third time in their last four games.
Alabama and North Alabama will meet at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in the final game of the series on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
