DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The University of North Alabama continued to struggle scoring runs Saturday as the Lions dropped a 5-2 decision at Davidson in the second game of a three-game series.
With the loss UNA falls to 3-14 overall, while Davidson improved to 8-6.
Davidson took a 2-0 lead in the third inning before the Lions scored a run in the fourth. Davidson answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-1, UNA got a run in the top of the fifth to make it 3-2 and the Wildcats came back with two more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-2.
Freshman catcher
Landon Langston led UNA with two hits, while
Davis Elliott,
Tate Mathis,
Ridge Watson,
Reid Singewald and
Reid Homan had one each.
Watson and Kevn Brenning, who have missed the majority of the 2019 season due to injury, were both back in the UNA starting lineup.
Chase Best (0-5) took the loss for UNA, allowing five runs on six hits over four and a third innings. He walked one and struckout three.
Kaleb Barnes pitched one third of an inning and
Hunter Davidson pitched three and a third scoreless innings.
The Lions and Wildcats play the final game of the series Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
