DELAND, Fla., – The University of North Alabama men's and women's tennis teams each suffered losses at Stetson on Thursday by identical 7-0 scores. Both UNA teams will close the regular season on Saturday at North Florida, each needing a win to qualify for the upcoming ASUN Conference tournament.

The UNA women (6-15 overall, 1-5 ASUN) fell behind early when the Hatters posted a pair of 6-2 victories at the top two doubles positions. In singles play, Stetson won in straight sets at No. 3, No. 2 and No. 6 to clinch the match. Another win at No. 4 gave the home team a 5-0 lead.

At No. 5 singles, Nele Seitz won the opening set before Stetson's Danielle Peele rallied for the 5-7, 6-1 1-0 (10-0) victory. Payton Andrews lost a close 6-4, 6-4 decision at the top spot to wrap up the scoring.

On the men's side, Stetson posted wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. Oscar Meslin and Andreas Hansen held a slim 4-3 lead at the No. 2 position when doubles play was stopped.

The Hatters secured the match with singles wins at No. 5, No. 2 and No. 6. Two more straight sets wins at No. 3 and No. 4 gave Stetson a 6-0 lead before the home team completed the sweep at the top spot. After falling in the opening set at No. 1, UNA's Jason Pimenta posted a 6-4 victory of his own to force the tiebreaker. The Hatters' Linus Bergevi, however, was able to hold on for the 11-9 victory.

The UNA women will open play at North Florida Saturday at 10 a.m. (Central) The men's match is set to follow at 2 p.m. on the UNF campus in Jacksonville, Fla.
