Ft. MYERS, Fla. -- Florida Gulf Coast got two runs in the first inning and limited North Alabama to just two hits in the game as the Eagles downed the Lions 7-2 in game two of a three game ASUN Conference baseball series.
UNA cut the lead to 2-1 in the third inning but FGCU added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, two in the seventh and another in the eighth to preserve the win.
With the loss, UNA is now 11-31 overall and 5-11 in ASUN play. FGCU improves to 29-14 and 11-3 in conference play.
UNA starter
Jacob Laws (1-5) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 3.2 innings.
Bryant Claunch pitched three and a third and allowed three, only one earned, on four hits.
Austin Nichols allowed the final run.
UNA's only hits in the game were singles by
Davis Elliott and
Kevin Brenning.
The Lions were held to just three hits by FGCU pitchers on Friday.
