FLORENCE, Ala. -- Liberty got a leadoff home run from Jonathan Embry and had three additional homers on the day as the Flames took the ASUN Conference series finale from North Alabama, 8-5.
Liberty took the series two games to one with the win and improved to 24-7 overall and 7-2 in the ASUN. UNA is now 7-24 overall and 2-7 in the ASUN.
UNA fell behind 6-0 before scoring two runs in the fourth. The rally was cut short when UNA's
Landon Langston was called out at home plate as he tried to score from first on an RBI-double by
Peyton Sockwell.
Liberty answered that rally with back-to-back homers to lead off the top of the fifth for an 8-2 lead.
The Lions got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by
Davis Elliott and a two-run
Reid Homan homer in the ninth closed it to 8-5.
UNA reliever
Hunter Davidson kept UNA in the game, pitching four scoreless innings to close out the day. He allowed just two hits and struckout four.
North Alabama starter
Colin Chamblin (1-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on three his over two innings of work.
UNA was out-hit in the game 10 to six.
The Lions play a non-conference game at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday.
