FLORENCE, Ala. -- After falling behind 7-0, North Alabama to score eight runs on eight hits but still came out on the short end of a 10-8 decision to Belmont at Mike Lane Field.
UNA is now 4-26 overall, while Belmont improved to 14-16.
Belmont scored three runs in the first inning and four more in the second off UNA starter
Austin Emener.
The Lions got a run in the bottom of the second when
Austin Thrasher walked and later scored on a ground-out by
Garrett Smith.
Belmont pushed its advantage to 10-1 with a three-run fourth inning before the Lions began to rally.
UNA got five runs in the bottom of the fourth as
Drew Hudson had an RBI-single,
Reid Homan had a two-run single and
Ben Kiefer had a two-run double.
With the Lions down 10-6, UNA scored two more in the sixth as
Peyton Thomas was hit-by-pitch moved to third on a Homan double and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Reid Singewald. Homan then scored on a throwing error.
North Alabama only got one base runner over the final three innings,
Emener (0-1) took the loss. He gave up seven runs on four hits over two innings. He walked three and struckout one.
Brycen Parrish allowed three runs on six hits over two innings.

UNA hosts a three-game ASUN series against Liberty beginning on Friday.
