FLORENCE, Ala. --Trey Gibson allowed just five hits and no runs over eight innings and Liberty scored 15 runs on 13 hits as the Flames completed a three-game sweep over the Lions at Mike Lane Field with a 15-0 win.
North Alabama is now 4-29 overall and 3-12 in ASUN Conference play. Liberty improved to 25-8 overall and 11-1 in the ASUN.
The Flames scored a run in the second on a solo home run by Jaylen Guy to take a 1-0 lead and added single runs in the fourth and fifth inning, seven runs in the sixth and five more in the eighth.
North Alabama left runners on base in six different innings, including six runners in scoring position.
After Gibson left the game at the end of the eighth inning, UNA loaded the bases with no outs on reliever Mason Hand with singles from
Kylan Barnett and
Gerardo Miranda and a walk to
Harris Kain. Hand then recovered to strike out the next three batters and end the threat.
Kyle Moore (0-6) took the loss for UNA, allowing three runs on four hits over five innings. He walked three and struckout seven. Four other pitchers threw in the game for UNA.
UNA plays at Alabama on Tuesday with the start time set for 6:00 p.m.
