UNA WOMEN COME UP SHORT AT LIBERTY

Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va., – Liberty won two of the three doubles matches before winning five of six matches in singles play to record a 5-2 home win over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team on Saturday. With the loss, UNA falls to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in ASUN Conference action. The Flames remain perfect in league matches at 5-0 and improve to 15-4 overall.
 
Liberty struck first with a win at No. 2 doubles. Nina Linke and Lee-Taylor Bishop then evened the score with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. The Flames, however, held on for a 7-5 win at the top position and carried the momentum into singles play.
 
Singles wins at No. 3 and No. 4 gave the home team a 3-0 lead. Ida Hasselbalch kept UNA alive with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. The Flames, however, clinched the match with a victory at No. 1 before increasing the lead to 5-1 with a win at No. 5.
 
Sydney Flesch extended her winning streak to four straight matches by rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 win at No. 2. The sophomore from Huntsville won 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
 
UNA will host Lipscomb on April 10. Match time is set for 10 a.m. at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
