FLORENCE, Ala. -- Austin Peay scored a goal in the 56th minute and made it hold up as the Governors downed North Alabama 1-0 in women's soccer at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.

The Lions managed eight shots in the first half, including two on goal by Chloe Fell and Montana Merkle but couldn't find the back of the net.

Austin Peay finally broke the scoreless tie at 55:07 when Tori Case placed a corner kick into the box and Alec Baumgardt pushed it past UNA goalkeeper Payton Yates for the only goal of the day.

Yates finished with three saves for the Lions.

With the loss, UNA is now 0-6-2. Austin Peay improved to 2-4-1.

UNA hosts Jackson State on Friday at 7 p.m.
