BIRMINGHAM – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Samford on Friday. The loss gives UNA an 0-5 record while the Bulldogs improve to 2-1 on the year.

Samford took the early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The Bulldogs were able to win at No. 1 and No. 3 while UNA's Sydney Flesch and Juliette Talieu posted a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Samford won five of the six matches, including a rally at the top spot. Payton Andrews won the opening set 6-3 before falling 6-1 and 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.

With the Lions trailing 3-0 in the overall score, Juliette Talieu gave UNA its lone point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Samford then clinched the match with wins at the final three spots.

UNA will play its next match at Alabama on Feb. 13. Match time is set at 4 p.m. at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility in Tuscaloosa.
