TROY EDGES WOMEN’S TENNIS 4-3

FLORENCE., - After falling behind 3-0, a rally by the University of North Alabama women's tennis team came up just short in a 4-3 home loss to Troy on Wednesday. The loss keeps UNA winless on the season at 0-9 while the Trojans improve to 4-2 on the year.
 
Troy took the early lead by winning two doubles matches. The visitors won 6-0 at No. 3 and 6-2 at the No. 2 spot to grab a 1-0 overall lead. No. 1 doubles was tied at 3-3 when play was stopped.
 
After the Trojans extended the lead to 3-0 with wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles, UNA was able to win three of the next four in singles play. Payton Andrews posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 victory by Sydney Flesch at the No. 3 position to close the overall gap to 3-2.
 
Troy was able to clinch the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles. After the match was decided, Juliette Talieu recorded a three-set victory at No. 2, rallying for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 win.
 
UNA will play its next match at Western Kentucky on Feb. 20. Match time is set at 2 p.m. at the WKU Tennis Complex in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
