UAB WOMEN TOP LIONS 6-1

BIRMINGHAM – UAB won tiebreakers in two singles matches Tuesday during a 6-1 home win over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team. The loss keeps UNA winless on the season at 0-11 while the Blazers improve to 7-4.
 
UAB took the early lead in doubles play with 6-0 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The No. 3 match went unfinished with UAB holding a slim 4-2 lead.
 
After the Blazers clinched the overall match with singles wins at the No. 5, No. 6 and No. 1 positions. UNA was able to win one of the final three matches on the day.
 
Sydney Flesch picked up her third consecutive singles victory with a 7-6, 6-1 win at the No. 3 position for the Lions. UNA also came up short in the third set at No. 2 and No. 4 singles.  
 
UNA will play its next match at Alabama A&M on March 6. Match time is set at 1 p.m. in Huntsville.
