UNA’S STRACHAN, JAWORSKA SIGN PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS

FLORENCE – A pair of former University of North Alabama women's basketball standouts have recently signed professional contracts to play overseas. Julia Strachan will play for IK Eos Lund in Lund, Sweden while Patrycja Jaworska signed with 1KS Sleza Wroclaw in her hometown of Wroclaw, Poland.

"We are so proud of Julia and Patrycja," said UNA women's basketball head coach Missy Tiber. "They played a huge role in moving our program forward last year. They are high character kids who have a passion for basketball. We can't wait to follow their professional careers."

Strachan led UNA with 11.8 points per game last season. The graduate transfer from Adelphi also led the ASUN with 91 made three-pointers. Her 43.8 percent from three-point range led the league and was 12-best in the nation at the Division I level.

She added her name to the UNA record books on Feb. 3 at Flowers Hall with 11 made three-point baskets set a new single-game record. Strachan also led all scorers during the 84-68 victory, scoring 35 points and tying a North Alabama Division I era record.

IK Eos Lund finished 9-17 last season in the Basketligan dam, the top women's basketball league in Sweden.

Jaworska averaged 9.6 points and 3.6 assists per game for the Lions. She shot 45.3 percent from the floor, including 20 three-point baskets. The transfer from Texas A&M International reached double figures in scoring 13 times, including a career-high 20-point performance on Feb. 17, at Eastern Kentucky.

Sleza Wroclaw posted a 14-10 record last season.
