Lions look to spoil Homecoming in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (October 26, 2023) – The University of North Alabama football team will be spending Saturday afternoon in Stacheville, as the Lions trek up to Clarksville, Tenn. for a showdown with nationally-ranked Austin Peay.
 
Whether fans are making the trip across state lines, watching on ESPN+ or listening to the local broadcast on WLX radio, below are the top things to know.
 
1. KICKOFF: Kickoff is scheduled for 3:02 p.m. from Fortera Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn.
 
2. TICKETS: Single game tickets start at $12 before taxes and are available for purchase through TickerMaster or four hours prior to game day at the Fortera Stadium box offices. To purchase tickets, click here.
 
3. PARKING AND STADIUM INFO: Parking is reserved for season ticket holders and media in Lot 6 and Lot 7, but all other lots and along streets on campus is free and open to the public. 4. CATCH THE LIONS ON THE RADIO: "Voice of the Lions" Benjamin Ray and color analyst Bryan Neece will be in the booth this Saturday, while former UNA quarterback Jacob Tucker will report from the sidelines. UNA's football game day broadcasts will begin one hour before kickoff with the "Countdown to Kickoff" show. Lion fans can catch all the action on WLX Radio — 98.3 FM and 103.5 FM in the Shoals or worldwide on the WLX App. Fans can also access the broadcast at this link.

7. SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Austin Peay will meet for the 20th time on Saturday in a series that dates back to UNA's first year of continuous football in 1949. The Lions the series with a 13-6 record. Austin Peay won last year's meeting — the first meeting in 44 years — with a last second 38-35 win in Florence. Saturday marks the first game in Clarksville between the two since 1978, where UNA won 10-6.
 
8. NO CUPCAKES: According to NCAA.org, UNA has the toughest remaining schedule in FCS football with games against No. 20 Austin Peay, No. 18 Central Arkansas and FBS No. 4 Florida State. UNA's opponents have a combined record of 50-30 this season, including a 17-4 combined record between the three final opponents. This week, UNA is seeking its first-ever win over a nationally-ranked FCS opponent after 13 unsuccessful tries.
 
9. ROLLIN' DOWN A BACKWOODS, TENNESSEE BYWAY: Historically, the Lions have enjoyed immense success against the state of Tennessee with a 67-46-2 all-time record against schools from the Tri-Star state. This season, UNA is 2-1 against Tennessee schools with wins over Tennessee Tech and current No. 15 ranked Chattanooga — who was receiving votes the week of the game. The only loss came to current No. 13 UT Martin.
 
10. 75TH SEASON OF UNA FOOTBALL: The 2023 season marks the 75th year of North Alabama Football. UNA has an all-time record of 483-303-16 and owns claim to 21 NCAA playoff appearances, 17 conference championships and three national championships. This season marks UNA's sixth at the FCS level and just the second as a full-fledged member. This year also marks a new era as the Lions are charter members of the newly-formed United Athletic Conference.
