FLORENCE, Ala. -- North Florida broke open a 3-3 game in the eighth inning with a six-run rally and went on to a 9-3 win over the Lions in the second game of an ASUN Conference series at Mike Lane Field.
UNA led 2-0 after four innings and pulled back from a 3-2 deficit to tie it in the fifth. The UNF surge in the eighth was sparked by a grand-slam and a solo home run.
With the loss, UNA is now 9-35 on the season and 3-20 in conference play.
The Lions' first run on Saturday came in the second inning when
Gehrig Frei doubled and scored on an error. In the fourth, Frei walked,
Drew Hudson singled and
Dominick McIntyre singled to drive in a run.
Ethan Walker led off the fifth inning with a single and eventually scored on a fielder's choice by
Andrew Knight.
UNA starter
Jacob James threw six strong innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.
Brycen Parrish (0-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits over two innings.
