Tarleton State leads the all-time series, 2-1. UNA won the only matchup played in Texas back in 2013, winning 44-7 in the regular season finale before moving on to the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Tarleton State won both meetings in Florence in 2012 and 2022 despite UNA scoring 28 points in both meetings. The Lions are averaging 33.3 points per game against Tarleton.
9. MESSING WITH TEXAS: The Lions have had immense success against teams from the state of Texas, owning an 8-3 all-time record against the Lone Star State. This includes four teams, two of which are now members of the UAC with UNA — Abilene Christian and Tarleton State. The other two are Texas A&M-Commerce and the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. TAMUK battled UNA many times in the 1990s, including the 1994 national championships won by UNA. The Lions are 6-0 all-time against the Javelinas.
10. 75TH SEASON OF UNA FOOTBALL: The 2023 season marks the 75th year of North Alabama Football. UNA currently owns an all-time record of 481-299-16, while boasting 21 NCAA playoff appearances, 17 conference championships and three national championships. This season marks UNA's sixth at the FCS level and just the second as a full-fledged member. This year also marks a new era as the Lions are charter members of the newly-formed UAC.
