CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (January 25, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team returns to the court to open the Spring 2024 season on Friday, Jan. 26 against Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn.
UNA looks to start 1-0 on the season entering its second season under UNA Director of Tennis Olaya Garrido-Rivas. The Lions were voted eighth of 11 teams in the 2024 ASUN Women's Tennis Preseason Poll.
The dual will take place at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at the McCallie School with first serve at 5 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. CT for fans in the Shoals. Live stats will be provided here and final results will be posted on RoarLions.com.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama will dual the Mocs for the first time in nearly three years, though UNA and Chattanooga did play each other in the 2023 UTC Fall Invite back in October. UNA will have six players making their regular season debut, while returning two players from last season — senior Kalais Going and sophomore Valeria San Miguel. Going led the Lions with 10 wins last season in singles, while San Miguel won eight matches. The pair also won five matches in doubles last season.
SCOUTING THE MOCS: Chattanooga comes into the matchup with a 1-2 record. Last time out, the Mocs defeated Tennessee State 6-1 for their first win of the new season. UTC is coached by Chad Camper in his eighth season.
LAST MEETING: North Alabama defeated the Mocs, 4-3, the last time these two teams met in dual play on March 5, 2021 in Florence. Trailing 3-1, UNA won three consecutive matches to rally and defeat Chattanooga. This past fall, UNA won three doubles matches against UTC.
FALL RECAP: UNA Women's Tennis ended the fall portion of the season with 78 wins in four outings. This includes 17 wins in the final meet at Southern Miss, led by freshman Ada Karabacak with six wins and a singles flight victory. She and Going won their doubles flight, as well.
