NOTES
Weekend Recap: North Alabama dominated UT Martin over a three-game weekend set in Florence. The Lions knocked off the Skyhawks 10-0 in game one, behind a combined shutout from
Jacob James and
Brycen Parrish. UNA toppled UT Martin in both games on Sunday, outscoring the Tennessee foe 8-3 in the pair of games, giving UNA its first series sweep of the season.
Moving Up the Ranks: North Alabama starting pitcher
Jacob James tied his career high for strikeouts on Saturday against the Skyhawks with 12. That total moved him into sole possession of second place on the UNA all-time strikeout list. He now has 216 career strikeouts and is 64 shy of tying Chad Boughner for first place with 280 punchouts.
Atop the ASUN: James ranks first in the ASUN with 38 strikeouts so far this season. The southpaw from Loretto, Tenn. has nine more strikeouts than the next closest pitcher. He is also second among all qualified pitchers with a 1.64 ERA, allowing just four earned runs across 22 innings.
Dominant Staff: Over the weekend, the UNA staff allowed just three runs to UT Martin, the fewest in a three-game series since three consecutive shutouts over Christian Brothers in 2018. The series over Christian Brothers came in North Alabama's final season at the NCAA Division II level and the Gulf South Conference.
Memphis Series History: Memphis leads the all-time series over North Alabama 6-2 with the Tigers holding a 2-1 edge in games played since UNA's move to the Division I era. UNA won the most recent meeting between the two teams 10-0 on April 5, 2022 in Florence.
Jonathan Lane,
Dominick McIntyre and
Quinn Petty all tallied RBI's in the game.
Scouting the Tigers: Memphis enters Tuesday's game against the Lions with a 7-10 record. The Tigers are coming off of hosting a weekend set with losses to Butler, Presbyterian and Jackson State. They split a pair of midweek games with common opponent UT Martin earlier this season.
