Baseball drops midweek contest to Memphis

Lions open ASUN play on Friday against Kennesaw State

FLORENCE, Ala. (March 12, 2024) – North Alabama struck first, but couldn't overcome a heavy offensive attack in a 16-2 loss at Memphis on Tuesday. UNA opens up conference play this weekend with a three-game set against Kennesaw State in Florence.
The Lions fall to 6-10 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 8-10 on the year.

Jackson Ferrigno drove his second lead-off home run of the season to center field to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead over the Tigers. Memphis answered in the home half with a trio of runs to take the lead and would not falter for the remainder of the game.
Cal Cook, Dominick McIntyre and Levi Jensen tallied back-to-back-to-back singles in the fourth inning to load the bases with nobody out, but the Lions failed to capitalize.   The Lions put up the second run of the evening following a Charlie Cochran single, who would eventually come around to score on an RBI groundout by Andrew Knight. The hit was Cochran's first of his career in his first career plate appearance.

McIntyre and Jensen each picked up a pair of hits on the evening. Jensen now has six hits in his last three games.
