DELAND, Fla. (March 15, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team suffered its first Atlantic Sun Conference defeat of the season to the Stetson Hatters, 6-1, in DeLand, Fla.

The loss ended the Lions' seven-dual win streak, but UNA battled down to the last match. In doubles, it came down to a top-flight win by the Hatters after flights two and three were split. The hosts went on to take five of the six singles courts en route to their first conference win. The final four singles matches all came down to the third set.

Junior Anoek Pruijmboom and freshman Ada Karabacak won their doubles match, while freshman Emma Ansorge was victorious in singles. Pruijmboom/Karabacak earned their third doubles win as a pair in a 6-1 win over Zali Morris and Noa Cohen. In No. 2 singles, Ansorge beat Nadeja Maslova, 6-3, 6-3, for her sixth singles win of the season.

Sophomore Valeria San Miguel, senior Marta Torres, freshman Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Karabacak battled to a deciding third set in their singles matches but fell to their respective opponents.

UNA faces the FGCU Eagles in the final stop of the road swing this Sunday, March 17, with first serve scheduled for 9 a.m. CT.
