NOTES

The Rundown: UNA took game two against the ASUN leading Stetson Hatters but lost the series 2-1 over the weekend. UNA ripped nine hits on Saturday's game to edge the Hatters 5-4. Each game of the series was competitive, with all three games constituting a save situation.

Senior Improvement: UNA senior Levi Jensen is third on the team with a .269 batting average in 32 appearances so far this year. Last season Jensen batted .147 in 38 games and he has already surpassed his 2023 totals in hits, runs, RBI's, home runs and total bases in six fewer games. The Luck, Wis. native has picked up 14 hits in his last 13 games entering the midweek with Ole Miss.

A Record Weekend: North Alabama set multiple Division I offensive program records against Bellarmine on April 13-14. UNA tallied 48 runs in three games, the most in a series since 2006. The Lions also set new single-game Division I program records for runs (22), hits (23), total bases (36) and margin of victory (19) in Sunday's match.

Serious Strikeouts: North Alabama starting pitcher Jacob James struck out five batters on Saturday, April 20 against Stetson. He exits the series with the Hatters having struck out 255 batters in his UNA career. James is second in the ASUN with 77 strikeouts and is just 25 strikeouts shy of tying Chad Boughner for the most in program history.

Mr. 300: North Alabama head baseball coach Jad Prachniak picked up his 300th career win on Sunday, April 14 against Bellarmine, 22-3. Prachniak came to UNA with 273 career victories at Division II West Chester, where he won two NCAA Division II National Championships. Prachniak is in his second season at the helm of the UNA Baseball program.

Five is the Magic Number: On Sunday, April 14 against Bellarmine, Gehrig Frei tied the program record for the most hits in a game with five. Frei tallied three singles, a double and a three-run homer in the series finale in Louisville. Earlier this season, Frei became the first UNA player with five hits in a game since 2016 in a 5-for-6 performance against Alabama A&M on April 3.

A Blast From the Past: In 2019, UNA and Ole Miss met for the first time as Division I opponents in Oxford on April 2. The Lions exploded for 10 runs as UNA picked up the first power five victory of the Division I era in a 10-6 win over the Rebels. The North Alabama pitching staff, led by Colin Chamblin and Hunter Davidson, allowed just five earned runs in the victory.

Scouting the Rebels: Ole Miss enters the midweek against UNA with a 21-18 record and is fifth in the SEC West division with a 6-12 conference record. The Rebels are coming off of a 3-2 win over Georgia on Sunday in which head coach Mike Bianco earned his 1,000th career win. Ole Miss is led at the plate by Ethan Lege, who enters the midweek batting .348 with a 1.136 OPS and 12 home runs.

Ole Miss Series History: UNA and Ole Miss have met 10 times before in program history, with Ole Miss holding the series lead 8-2. The Rebels lead the series 2-1 since North Alabama made the jump to Division I in 2019. UNA took down Ole Miss 10-6 in the first Division I meeting between the schools in 2019.
