NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 20, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team is set to open the fall season at the Lipscomb/Belmont Hidden Duals this Saturday in Nashville.
The Lions open the new year at the two-day tournament and will feature a six-team draw from five different conferences. Teams from the Atlantic 10, Sun Belt, Mid-American, Missouri Valley and Atlantic Sun Conferences include co-hosts Lipscomb and Belmont, Dayton, Arkansas State and Ball State.
After a solid season in Spring 2024 that included a Division I program record in total and conference wins, North Alabama Director of Tennis Olaya Garrido-Rivas returns for her third season at the helm. Last spring, the program finished with an 15-8 record and a 4-6 record in conference play.
Four starters return in senior Anoek Pruijmboom, junior Stanislava Bobrovnikova and sophomore Ada Karabacak. Sophomore Emma Ansorge also returns after being named to the ASUN All-Freshman team during the 2024 season.
Lipscomb enters the weekend after finishing 15-6 overall in Spring 2024 while 7-3 in the ASUN. Belmont finished 13-10 last season with a 5-3 record in the MVC. Dayton will look to build on a 2024 season that ended with an 11-10 record but went 4-0 in the Atlantic 10.
Arkansas State finished 8-15 in Spring 2024 with a 2-9 record in the Sun Belt, with Ball State going 7-15 overall and 3-6 in the MAC.
Following the two-day event, the Lions will head to the ITA Regionals from Oct. 10-15 in Auburn, Ala.
