Women’s Tennis cruises to 4-0 sweep over Missouri State

Lions defeat Bears in first all-time meeting

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 1, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team won its third-straight dual Saturday afternoon, defeating the Missouri State Bears, 4-0, in Paducah, Ky.

Battling Missouri State in the neutral-site contest, North Alabama continued rolling in the road-trip opener with a victory over the Bears. It also marked the first all-time meeting between the two programs, with UNA coming away with the win thanks to strong play in singles and doubles. The Lions only surrendered three games in the matches won, leading to first win of the weekend.


Five Lions finished with victories against Missouri State, with two players securing a doubles and singles win in junior Senem Ocal and sophomore Ada Karabacak. The top-flight doubles pair of juniors Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eeva Ristola came away with a dominant win, while sophomore Mathilde Delaney added a singles win to her tally.


North Alabama improved to 5-2 with its third-straight win, while Missouri State dropped to 1-12 on the season.


The pair of Ocal and Karabacak got things started with a doubles win from court three, defeating Missouri State's Romy Pols and Lola Federski, 6-0. Bobrovnikova and Ristola followed with a similar strong effort from the top flight, taking a 6-1 win over the Bears' Elif Gunal and Billur Gonlusen.


Delaney and sophomore Emma Ansorge were leading in their doubles match, 3-2, prior to the Lions securing the doubles point.


In singles, Delaney secured a win from flight five in a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Missouri State's Pols. Shortly after, Ocal doubles up on the day in wins with a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Bears' Federski from flight six.


The winning point in the dual came from Karabacak on court four, with her opponent retiring en route to a 6-0, 4-0 win.
