Women’s Tennis bounces Bellarmine for 6-1 road triumph

Lions secure second ASUN win; extend winning streak to eight

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 16, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team concluded its road trip Sunday morning in Louisville, beating the Bellarmine Knights, 6-1, in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

North Alabama's opening conference weekend concluded with a perfect 2-0 record, continuing to capture wins with the Lions victorious over the Knights. The bout against Bellarmine saw UNA take the early advantage in doubles, securing the team win with five singles wins to beat the Knights. The victory improves UNA to 10-2 on the season and also extends an eight-dual winning streak.

Securing the team high in wins was senior Stanislava Bobrovnikova, junior Eeva Ristola and sophomore Ada Karabacak with two across both singles and doubles play. Bobrovnikova and Ristola combined for a doubles win with respective singles victories, while Karabacak nabbed her 10th singles triumph and seventh doubles win.

Junior Lena Karlovcan paired with Karabacak for a doubles victory, and junior Senem Ocal secured a singles win along with sophomore Mathilde Delaney.

Bobrovnikova and Ristola grabbed the first doubles win with a top-flight, 6-2 win over Yeva Kramarova and Ekaterina Tikhonko. Nine minutes later, Karabacak and Karlovcan won their second doubles match of the season in a 6-3 victory over Marika Caruk and Liann Grosso from flight three.

Sophomore Emma Ansorge and Delaney held a 5-4 lead from court two over Vendula Kryslova and Reese Parker, but the UNA duo's match went unfinished due to the clinching point.

In a span of two minutes, the Lions captured the team win thanks to four-straight UNA victories from courts three, four, five and six.

Ristola opened with the first win from court four, defeating Reese Parker, 6-1, 6-1. At the same time, Ocal beat her opponent from court six with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Grosso. Karabacak's 6-2, 6-0 victory over Nikola Kollaritsch sealed UNA's team win from court three, while Delaney registered the Lions' fifth team point in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Lillie Willis.

North Alabama's sixth and final point came from a Bobrovnikova rally, overcoming a dropped first set to defeat Tikhonko from flight one, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2.

The Lions head back from the road trip with a 10-2 record, while Bellarmine's record falls to 2-16.
