Coleman Crawford, a two-year starter and All-Gulf South Conference selection for the men's basketball team in 1974-75, was selected GSC Player of the Year in 1974 and still held several school and conference records at the time of his induction. He led UNA in both scoring and rebounding both seasons and his 13.3 career rebounding average is still a UNA and GSC record.
His other school records include most rebounds in a game (23), best season rebound average (15.2) and career scoring average (18.1). Crawford, a native of Henderson, N.C., received his B.S. degree in history and secondary education from UNA in 1975.
He served as an assistant coach at Delta State University, Middle Tennessee State University, the University of Akron and the University of Tennessee, before being hired as Akron's head basketball coach in 1989.
