Danny Kimble, a native of Gadsden, Ala., was a four-year letterman on the Lion football teams from 1970-73. He was a first-team All-GSC selection at end in 1973. He led the team in receptions in 1970 with 25 for 470 yards and three TDs, in 1971 with 26 catches for 407 yards and one TD and in 1973 with 39 catches for 655 yards and five TDs.

He ranks third on the UNA career receptions list with 100 catches for 1,693 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He then signed as a free agent in 1974 with  the Chicago Bears. He spent one season with the Bears and one season in the World Football League with the Jacksonville Express.

He was selected for “The First Forty Years” All-Time UNA Football Team.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from UNA in 1973 and a Master of Arts degree from UNA (1979). He was the 2004-05 president of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.

He and his wife Patricia have two children, Ashleigh and Danny Jr.

He is the Athletic Director at Gadsden City High School.
