KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Off to a 2-0-2 start and having allowed just one goal in four matches this season, the University of North Alabama women's soccer team has earned its first regional ranking of the school's Division I era. The Lions are ranked 10th in the second week of the United Soccer Coaches Association's South Region Poll.
SMU leads the rankings, followed by Memphis, UCF, North Texas, Cincinnsti, Texas-San Antonio, UAB, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic and North Alabama.
"It's great to be ranked," said UNA Head Women's Soccer Coach
Chris Walker. "Obviously it's the first time since we turned Division I, and it's a nice reward for our players for playing as well as they have against a tough schedule to open the season. We'll enjoy it while we can, but it's just two weeks into the season. It's nice to make history, but we have to move on from there."
UNA hosts Southern Indiana at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m., and will then host Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
