VALDOSTA, Ga. -- North Alabama and Valdosta State each scored a first half goal but neither could score again as the Lions and Blazers battled to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes in Gulf SOuth Conference women's soccer action.
Despite the tie, North Alabama remains in first place in the GSC standings at 9-1-1. The Lions are 10-2-1 overall.
In a six-team race for the top spot, UNA is followed by Mississippi College (8-2), Valdosta State (7-2-2), Lee (7-2), Christian Brothers (6-2-1) and West Florida (5-2-1).
Michelle Hunter scored just 11:11 into the match for UNA. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Valdosta State tied it in the 23rd minute as Taylor Snell scored her 10th goal of the year.
UNA was out-shot 24 to 14 in the match and UNA goalkeeper
Shelby Thornton recorded 12 saves.
The Lions play at West Florida Sunday.
