FLORENCE, Ala. -- It took overtime but the University of North Alabama women's soccer team recorded its 12th win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Spring Hill at on Senior Dat\y at the UNA Soccer Complex.
Senior
Michelle Hunter netted the only match of the goal just 1:09 into the extra period off a cross from
Morgan Brown. The goal, Hunter's fifth of the season, pushes UNA's record to 12-3-1 overall and 10-2-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Spring Hill is now 1-16 overall and 0-13 in the GSC.
The Lions out-shot the Badgers 26 to one in the match but could not get the ball past SHC goalkeeper H.P. Fluharty in regulation play. Fluharty recorded eight saves, while the Badgers never had a shot on goal against the Lions.
UNA closes its regular season at West Georgia on Thursday (Oct. 26) at noon.
North Alabama, enjoying its seventh 10-plus win season in the last nine years, has guaranteed itself a spot as a first round host in the upcoming GSC Tournament on October 31.
