FORT MYERS, Fla. -- After holding undefeated Florida Gulf Coast to a scoreless tie for the first 71 minutes of the match, the University of North Alabama dropped a 2-0 decision to the Eagles for its first ASUN Conference women's soccer loss of the season.

North Alabama, now 7-5 overall and 1-1 in the ASUN, had several scoring opportunities early, including three shots on goal in the first 19 minutes. The Lions couldn't put the ball in the net, however, and FGCU swung the momentum in its favor.

Evodkia Popadinova finally broke the scoreless tie with a goal at the 71:04 mark and added a second goal at 77:25 for the 2-0 win.

The win improves FGCU's record to 9-0-2 overall and 3-0 in the ASUN.

UNA was out-shot 11 to nine in the match.

North Alabama goalkeeper Shelby Thornton had six saves.

The Lions continue ASUN play at Stetson on Monday.
