FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team opens the ASUN Conference portion of its 2019 schedule tonight at 7 p.m. at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex against traditional ASUN power Florida Gulf Coast University.
The Lions are 4-5 overall, coming off back-to-back road wins at Alabama State and Jackson State.
FGCU brings a 5-3 record to Florence and the Eagles have won their last three straight matches. The team's three losses are to Michigan, LaSalle and Florida. Marjorie Boilesen and Evdokia Popadinova are tied for the team lead in goals with four each.
UNA senior
Shelby Wall of Auburn, Ala., leads the ASUN Conference in scoring with nine goals in 2019. With two assists to date, she also leads the ASUN in points with 20. Wall has scored in UNA's last six straight matches and has eight total goals over that span.
She currently ranks seventh in career goals (31) at UNA and sixth in career assists (23).
UNA senior
Kate Webster of Evansville, Ind., has also recorded two straight wins in goal for the Lions.
This will be the second meeting between UNA and FGCU. The Lions lost at No. 23 ranked FGCU last season 2-0.
The FGCU match is the first of eight straight ASUN matches for the Lions to close out the regular season.
UNA hosts NJIT on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. as part of the two-match home-stand before playing three straight on the road.
