FLORENCE, Ala. -- Liberty scored 15 runs on 17 hits on the way to a 15-1 win over North Alabama at Mike Lane Field in ASUN Conference baseball action.
UNA is now 4-28 overall and 3-11 in the ASUN. Liberty is 24-8 overall and 10-1 in the ASUN.
Liberty scored a run in the second inning and added two in the third, four in the fourth, two in the sixth, one in the seventh, three in the eight and two in the ninth.
UNA's only run came in the bottom of the third inning.
Devne Daniel singled with two outs,
Kylan Barnett singled and
Peyton Thomas walked to load the bases.
Reid Homan then singled to right, scoring Daniel. Barnett also tried to score but was called out at the plate, ending the threat.
The Lions were held to just three hits the remainder of the game.
UNA starter
Chase Best (1-7) took the loss. He allowed nine runs on eight hits over five and a third innings. Only five of the runs were earned. He walked two and struckout six.
Austin Nichols pitched three innings, giving up six runs on nine hits.
Jacob Laws was able to record the final two outs.
The Lions and Flames will play the final game of the series at noon on Sunday at Mike Lane Field.
