LYNCHBURG, Va. -- On a rain-soaked field, Liberty took a 3-0 lead before North Alabama could get on the board and held on for a 4-1 ASUN Conference women's soccer win over the Lions.
The Flames held a 2-0 lead at intermission and added a third goal in the 68th minute before UNA's
Izzi Gurney found the back of the net for the fourth time this season.
Gurney's goal at the 77:38 mark, came off an assist from
Kate Wiseman and ties her for the UNA team lead with
Alice Bussey. Wiseman leads the Lions with four assists on the season.
Liberty's final goal came at the 83:07 mark.
UNA was out-shot 20-6 in the match, with North Alabama goalkeeper
Payton Yates recording nine saves. Â
With the loss, UNA is now 3-6-5 overall and 0-3-2 in ASUN Conference play.
Liberty improved to 9-3-2 overall.
North Alabama hosts Kennesaw State on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.
