NOTES

How We Got Here: The Lions placed fourth in the ASUN to earn a bye to the ASUN Championship Quarterfinal against Queens. In the match, Kellie Hovis netted her first goal of the season in the 71st minute to give the Lions a 1-0 victory over Queens in the ASUN Quarterfinal. The match served as Adriana Wright's 12th shutout of the season, a mark that is the most by any UNA squad in program history.

Lipscomb Series History: The two schools have met on 11 occasions prior to Thursday's match with Lipscomb holding an 8-3 edge over the Lions. Lipscomb has won the last eight matches between the two teams dating back to 2018. North Alabama's last win came in 2006 when the Lions defeated the Bisons 3-1 in Florence. Lipscomb won the last match played in Nashville earlier this season, 4-0.

Scouting the Bisons: The Bisons earned a double bye to host the ASUN Semifinals and Championship with the number one seed in the ASUN tournament. Lipscomb enters the match with a 14-4-1 record and has not lost a match since Sept. 10 to Tennessee Tech. The Bisons went unbeaten in ASUN play during the regular season with a 10-0-1 record.

North Alabama Brings Home 10 ASUN Honors: The University of North Alabama women's soccer team took home 10 total ASUN honors in the 2023 postseason. The Lions earned five All-ASUN selections, three Academic All-Conference honors, one All-Freshman team selection and the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year award. Six North Alabama individuals combined to take home the 10 awards, which ranks second in the conference behind ASUN semifinal opponent Lipscomb (16).

Spread the Love: The UNA soccer team has had 10 different players score a goal this season. Alice Bussey leads the team with seven goals, while Goose Andrews is the only other Lion with multiple goals. Kellie Hovis added her first goal of the season on Sunday against Queens, joining seven other Lions with one goal apiece.

Lions Shatter Expectations: The Lions were selected to finish 12th in the ASUN Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Lions placed fourth in the final standings after turning in a nine-win season, tied for the most regular season wins in Division I program history. The Lions outperformed their preseason predicted finish by eight places, the most of any team in the conference with Central Arkansas' second place finish (6th preseason) and four-place difference the second biggest margin.

UNA in the Postseason: For the first time in program history, the UNA women's soccer team hosted an ASUN Tournament match in a 1-0 victory over Queens. The Lions have appeared in five tournament matches since the jump to Division I in 2018 and hold a 3-2 record, which includes two victories in the 2018 tournament and an appearance in the 2018 ASUN Championship match.

Make it Double: With a 1-0 victory over Queens on Sunday, the Lions reached double-digit wins for just the second time since making the jump to Division I. The last time the Lions reached double digit wins, they advanced to the 2018 ASUN Championship match. The 10-5-5 UNA record is the most points (35) since 2018, when the Lions had a record of 11-9-1 (34).
