MURRAY, Ky. (February 29, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team returns to the court on Saturday, March 2 for an away dual against the Murray State Racers.
North Alabama travels to Kentucky in the midst of a three-match win streak with wins in four of the last five outings. The Lions were victorious last time out in their first double header of the season, defeating both Jackson State and Alcorn State. They defeated the Tigers, 4-0, and they followed with a 4-1 win against the Braves, marking the best seven-match start since 2011.
Freshman Ada Karabacak also earned her second Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday, Feb. 28 after a three-win weekend against Jackson State and Alcorn State. The Istanbul, Turkey native's second ASUN weekly honor now marks the most in the Division I era in program history.
The dual will take place at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. Final results and box scores will be posted on RoarLions.com following the event.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama's record stands at 5-2 entering the dual with Murray State. The Lions have been difficult to defeat in the doubles portion, with UNA holding a combined 11-4 record in doubles play this spring. Senior Kalais Going and Karabacak have a team-high five doubles wins, four of which came as pairs from Flight No. 2. Sophomore Stanislava Bobrovnikova leads in singles victories with four, two each from the top two flights.
SCOUTING THE RACERS: Murray State faces the Lions with a 6-1 record and in the midst of a four-dual win streak. Last time out, the Racers had two wins against Western Kentucky, 7-0, and Middle Tennessee State, 5-2. Paola Campigotto and Marit Kreugel were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week. The head coach for the Racers is Jorge Caetano.
SERIES HISTORY: The Lions and Racers have met three times previously and twice since UNA's move to Division I, with Murray State winning each meeting. The last matchup saw the Lions fall to the Racers, 5-2, on March 5, 2023, from the UNA Tennis Complex.
