NOTES
SERIES HISTORY: This will be the fifth all-time meeting for the two programs, all coming since the start of the program in 1997. The Lions are 1-3 in this series with the lone win coming in 2018 in Cookeville with a 4-0 shutout win. UNA hosted TTU in their inaugural season for an overtime loss. The two have played in 1997, 1998, 2018 and 2019 -— two games going to overtime, both losses for the Lions. The last meeting, the Golden Eagles escaped in overtime in Florence the last time these two squared off in 2019. The Lions opened with a first half penalty kick from
Shelby Wall to take the initial lead. However, TTU scored a goal in the 83rd minute to tie, which lead to the extra time. The Golden Eagles took seven minutes to score the final goal which ended in the 2-1 win for Tennessee Tech.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: So far this season, Tennessee Tech is winless with an 0-5-3 record. TTU went scoreless for the first four games of the season as the opponents racked up 11 goals in the process. The team tied with ETSU as they scored their first goal of the season before getting shutout in the next one. The Golden Eagles tied their latest two games with Chattanooga and Kennesaw State. Tennessee Tech has posted double digit shots only twice this season and are 0-1-1 in those two games; once in the 1-0 loss to Murray State and 2-2 tie with Chattanooga.
ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama soccer team fell to Chattanooga 1-0 on Sunday night in Finley Stadium. The Lions lost for just the second time this season, ending a five-match unbeaten streak. North Alabama had five shots with one on target. Five different Lions created the five shots.
Alana Owens recorded the lone shot on goal. UNA added three corner kicks. Chattanooga is now on a five-game win streak after the 36th minute goal from Caroline Richvalsky.
TENNESSEE ROOTS: This will be UNA's eighth game of the season and the fourth against an opponent from Tennessee. North Alabama started the season with ETSU, then played UT Martin before traveling to Chattanooga just this past Sunday. All of these games have been on the road except ETSU, who UNA hosted for the season opener on Aug. 14. The Lions are 0-2-1 in these games.
BUSSEY BLAST: Before the Chattanooga game, graduate captain
Alice Bussey secured a goal in three straight games which led to a three-game win streak for the Lions. The Hythe, England native leads the team in points (7), shots (13), shots on goal (8), goals (3) and game-winning goals (2). She now begins to climb the ASUN statistical rankings, as she is tied for first in game-winning goals, tied for fourth in goals, sixth in shots and sixth in shots on goal.
NEXT GAME: Due to a cancellation by Mississippi Valley State, the Lions will look on to ASUN play with the home opener on Sunday, Sept. 21 against Central Arkansas. First kick is set for 1 p.m. at the Cox Creek Sports Complex.
