UNA VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS CHARGERS AT HOME

FLORENCE – Lexie Bradley and Natasha Fomina had 13 kills each to lead North Alabama past Alabama-Huntsville Thursday evening in Gulf South Conference volleyball action at Flowers Hall. The Lions hit .330 as a team and pulled away in each set of the 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 victory in front of 544 fans.
 
With the win, UNA improves to 14-1 on the season and 6-1 in GSC play. The Lions have now posted five straight wins, including four consecutive 3-0 sweeps. Overall, UNA has won 14 consecutive sets.
 
Bradley, who punctuated the night with a kill at match point, added a season-high .632 hitting percentage. The senior from Florence connected on 13 of 19 swings with only one attack error. She added two digs, a block and two service aces. The Lions finished with seven service aces on the night.
 
Fomina added a .323 hitting percentage and continues to lead the Lions with 209 kills on the year. Jessica Austin hit .467 for the match and just missed double figures with nine kills. Jayden Davila-McClary had 40 assists in just three sets to keep hold of GSC-leading 11.08 per-set average.
 
Defensively, Ashtyn Kapovich and Peyton Lang each reached double digits with 17 and 11 digs respectively. Kapovich leads the team and is second in the GSC with a 4.91 digs-per-set average.
 
UAH falls to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in league action. The Chargers were led by Lorah Yonce's seven kills.
 
UNA will remain at home for its next GSC match. The Lions will host Mississippi College Saturday at 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
