BARRY ADVANCES WITH 5-0 WIN OVER UNA MEN’S TENNIS

MIAMI SHORES, Fla., – Second-ranked Barry got three doubles victories before closing out a 5-0 sweep with a pair of singles wins over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA South 2 Regional. The loss ends the Lions' season with a 14-6 record.

"We had chances to win in the top two doubles matches, but it was just a really tough day for us," said UNA head tennis coach Brice Bishop. "I am really proud of this team. They have battled all season."

After an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles gave the Bucs an early lead, Barry (22-1) took control by winning the top two spots by identical 8-4 scores. The No. 25 team of Carlos Gomez and Vivien Versier outlasted Miguel Garcia and Taylor Ausbon at No. 2 doubles. At the top positon, the second-ranked team of Ahmed Triki and Pierre Montrieul pulled away late for a win over UNA's Max Druppel and Benjamin Poire.

Barry clinched the match with singles wins at No. 6 and No. 4 to advance. Druppel had the Lions' best chance to score. At No. 1 doubles, he won the first set against third-ranked Triki. The match was called during the second set.
