The University of North Alabama will kickoff its 2017 football season tonight at 6 p.m. at Braly Stadium against Texas A&M-Commerce.

North Alabama is ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Division II, while Texas A&M Commerce is ranked fifth.

STORY LINES
* North Alabama's 2017 season-opener is a Top Ten match-up as the sixth ranked UNA Lions host the fifth ranked Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce.
* This is the first game for new UNA Head Football Coach Chris Willis.
* This game will be the start of UNA's final season as a member of the Gulf South Conference and the NCAA Division II.
* Since 1992, the  UNA is 60-40-1 against ranked opponents and is 31-23 against Top Ten teams over the last 25 years.
* UNA has not lost a season-opener at home since 1999 when the Lions lost 28-21 to Pittsburg State.
* The Lions are 8-1 in nine previous games against schools from the state of Texas.
* UNA won its final eight regular-season games on the 2016 season after losing the season opener 31-12 at Jacksonville State on Sept. 1, 2016.
* The UNA Lions have won 18 straight regular-season home games dating back to a 37-34 loss to Delta State in 2013.
