WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RELEASES 2018-19 SCHEDULE

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team will play at home 13 times this season and travel to some of the top venues in the country as the Lions entered their first season as members of NCAA Division I and the ASUN Conference. UNA head coach Missy Tiber has released the 2018-19 season and said there is reason for excitement surrounding the program.

"Our team is very excited about our first year in Division I and as members of the ASUN conference," said Tiber. "This group of young women work extremely hard and their isn't a better group to tackle this challenge."

The Lions will waste no time test the Division I waters, opening the season on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Vanderbilt. Tip-off time has not yet been set.

Following the showdown against the Commodores, UNA will return for four consecutive home games, beginning Nov. 10 against Lane. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall. Home games against Blue Mountain, Stillman Alabama State follow before the Lions hit the road again.

North Alabama will travel to New Jersey for a pair of neutral-site games. The Lions will face Southeast Missouri State and Western Carolina Nov. 24-25 at the NJIT Classic.

A road game against another big name opponent is set to open play in December. UNA will play at Xavier at 2 p.m. (EST) on Dec. 2 in Cincinnati before wrapping up its non-conference slate with a home game against Martin Methodist and a road game at Mississippi Valley State.

The arrival of January marks the beginning of ASUN play. The Lions will play home-and-home series against all nine conference members with the top eight teams advancing to the league tournament beginning March 8. Although not eligible to participate in the NCAA Tournament play for four years, UNA can compete for an ASUN tournament title.

"Our awesome home fan base will have the opportunity to watch us play five games in Flowers Hall before the new year," added Tiber. "Our non-conference schedule also has road games against Power 5-level competition that will prepare us for ASUN play."
