FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama Athletic Department recognized 235 student-athletes on Saturday for their performance in the class room in the calendar year of 2018 for posting a grade point average of 3.2 or above.

UNA had 168 student-athletes who had a GPA between 3.2 and 3.9, while another 67 Lions had perfect 4.0 GPAs.

As a department, UNA posted a cumulative 3.09 GPA for the recently completed Fall 2018 semester. It was the highest GPA for a semester since 2005 and marked the sixth consecutive semester that the department has finished with a 3.00 GPA or better. Of UNA's 14 sports, 12 had cumulative 3.0 or higher GPAs led by women's tennis (3.69), indoor volleyball (3.66) and soccer (3.51).

The list of 4.0 honorees recognized on Saturday included student-athletes from all 14 sports as well as the cheer and dance teams.
