MEN’S TENNIS EDGED 4-3 AT ALABAMA STATE

MONTGOMERY – Alabama State rallied for a 4-3 home win over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team on Saturday. The loss leaves UNA still in search of its first win of the season with an 0-5 record.
 
After the Lions won the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, Alabama State took control in singles play, with wins in four of the first five matches to secure the team victory.
 
Facing the early deficit, the Hornets quickly took the lead with straight-sets win at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions. UNA was able to tie the overall match at 2-2 when Andreas Hansen picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 spot.
 
Alabama State regained the lead with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at No. 1, then clinched the match at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
 
Kyle Johnson gave UNA its final point by rallying for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-2 win at No. 5 singles.
 
The UNA men are scheduled to play at Jacksonville State on Feb. 10.
