NASHVILLE, Tenn., – A 4-0 loss at Lipscomb on Friday in the opening round of the ASUN Conference Tournament ended the season for the University of North Alabama men's tennis team. UNA finished is third season at the Division I level with a 4-14 record, including the program's first-ever post-season appearance.

Lipscomb took the early lead with victories at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles. Wins at No. 4, No. 3 and No. 6 singles then clinched the match for the Bisons.

All of the three remaining singles matches were neck-and-neck. They went unfinished, however, after Lipscomb clinched the overall team win.

At No. 5 singles, Jamie Bixby split the first two sets, including a 7-6 victory in the opener where he posted a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker. At No. 2, Kyle Johnson rallied from an early loss to tie the match with a 6-2 win in the second set. He was tied at 3-3 in the third set when play was halted.

After dropping the opening set at No. 1 singles, Carlos Matarredona Valor was knotted at 6-6 in the second set. The tiebreaker score was 8-8 when play stopped.
