MEN’S TENNIS DOMINATES AUSTIN PEAY HIDDEN DUEL

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn., – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team won all six doubles matches and 10-of-12 singles matches at the Austin Peay Hidden Duel. After sweeping Southern Indiana in singles play of the first day, the Lions won all three doubles matches against host ASPU on the second day. They followed by winning four of the six singles matches to close out the event.

Against Southern Indiana, UNA won all six singles matches in straight sets. Carlos Matarredona allowed only a single point at the No. 1 position in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

The following day, the Lions continued the winning streak by sweeping through doubles play against the host Govs. Jamie Bixby and Guiherme Diniz posted a 6-1 win at No. 3. Matarredona and Nazar Fedoryshyn followed with a 6-3 win at No. 1 and Chris Zhang and Lachlan Brain wrapped up the scoring with a 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play each of the top three positions went to a third set with UNA winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Brain won the opener before dropping the second set at No. 2. He then picked up a 10-8 victory in the third set. Fedoryshyn followed a similar script at No. 3 singles, winning the opener before falling in the second set. He recorded the overall win with a 10-4 victory in the third set.

UNA also posted win in two of the three positions in the bottom of the lineup. Zhang won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and Bixby won 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.
