HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Competing for the first time in an NCAA Championship on the Division I level, the University of North Alabama men's cross country team finished 13th in a 22-team field at the 2022 NCAA South Regional at John Hunt Park, with Evan Allen shattering the school record 10k time.
Tennessee won the event with a 39 total, while North Alabama finished with 373 total. The finish helped bolster the Lions current Top 15 ranking in the region.
Allen, a junior from Henderson, Tenn., was North Alabama's top performer, finishing 30th overall with a time of 30:39.91. That time easily bested the UNA school record for a 10k race set by Barry Fitts in 1984 at 31:51. UNA's second finisher, Fedrick Kipyego, was 50th overall at 31:03.41 and also bested the previous school record.
