Box Score MEMPHIS – Memphis scored 38 points in the first half and went on to a 59-0 win over North Alabama in the season finale for the Lions at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
With the loss, North Alabama closed its season with a 1-10 mark, while the Tigers improved to 6-5.
The game marked just the sixth all-time game for North Alabama against an FBS program.
The 59-point margin marked the largest loss in school history for the Lions, surpassing a pair of 53-point losses in 1971.
The game marked just the third time that UNA has been shutout in its last 240 games, since 2001.
North Alabama was held to just 124 yards of total offense with only 24 yards through the air. Quarterback Noah Walters was just 6-of-19 passing for 24 yards with two interceptions. He was UNA's leading rusher with nine carries for 56 yards.
UNA back ShunDerrick Powell, who entered the game averaging more than 146 yards per game, was held to 41 yards on 20 carries.
Memphis first score of the game came at 9:29 of the first quarter on a 38-yard pass from Seth Henigan to Eddie Lewis. Chris Howard added the PAT to make it 7-0.
On UNA's next possession, ShunDerrick l;ost his first fumble of the season and the Tigers turned it into points five plays later. Jeuyon Ducker scored on a six-yard run at the 7:15 mark to make it 14-0.
Ducker scored on a two-yard run at the 9:19 mark of the second period to make it 21-0.
Lewis returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown with 7:31 left in the half to push the lead to 28-0 and a 10-yard run by Asa Martin at 3:41 of the half made it 35-0.
The Tigers added a 26-yard Howard field goal with 26 seconds left in the half made it 38-0 at intermission.
North Alabama was held to 81 total yards in the first half and turned the ball over twice.
Memphis added to its lead in the second half with a 54-yard Xavier Cullens interception return for touchdown early in the third quarter and a two-yard Martin runs pushed it to 52-0 with 4:36 left in the third quarter.
A 12-yard TD run by Sutton Smith with 12:00 left in the game made it 59-0.
