LIBERTY TENNIS DOWNS UNA MEN 6-1

FLORENCE – LIBERTY swept doubles play before winning five of the six singles matches to record a 6-1 win over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team Friday in ASUN Conference play. With the loss UNA falls to 2-13 on the season and 0-3 in ASUN play.
 
Liberty jumped out to the quick 1-0 lead after doubles play. The Flames won 6-1 at the No. 3 doubles before clinching the point with a 6-2 win at the top spot. The No. 2 match went unfinished with Liberty leading 5-3.
 
In singles play, the Flames improved their lead to 3-0 with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. UNA stayed within striking distance when Jamie Bixby picked up a 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 6 singles.
 
The final three matches all went to three sets with the Flames claiming victory in all of them.
 
UNA will continue conference play against Bellarmine on Sunday, April 3. Match time is set for 10 a.m. at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
