NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The University of North Alabama men's tennis team opened its 2023 season on the road, with the Lions falling 7-0 to New Orleans at Privateer Tennis Center.

New Orleans opened the match by taking two doubles wins to earn the doubles point. UNO then sept the six singles matches to secure the match win.

UNA's Chris Zhang and Jamie Bixby both forced their singles matches into a third and deciding set at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.

"It is not the result we wanted, but I'm positive we will learn and bounce back," said UNA men's tennis coach Aitor Reparaz. "We fought hard but they played better than us. Now we need to focus on tomorrow's match and then plan how we will get better."

The Lions play at Nicholls State on Saturday.
